    Lead Abatement and Asbestos Removal


    The Alternative

    Overview
    Hazardous coatings are being replaced on all types of structures including power plants, buildings, bridges, etc. Abrasive blasting results in hazardous airborne particles unless expensive and elaborate containment systems are erected. Conventional chemical strippers are sometimes not capable of removing tough industrial coatings.

    Products are waterborn, worker friendly, non-toxic and biodegradable. They are capable of removing lead based coatings, asbestos content coatings, and asbestos insulation from steel and other architectural surfaces. The product range includes:

    Lead Based Paint Removal


    When is applied to the paint, there is no chemical reaction between the stripper and the paint. The coating either comes off the substrate like a skin, or it turns into a mushy liquid, depending on the type of coating. The paint can be scraped or washed off the surface or could even be picked up by vacuum suction. The stripped surface can be washed with water and it is then ready for re-coating.

    Asbestos Coating Removal


    Coatings with asbestos content are treated exactly the same way as lead based paints described above. The removal of asbestos mastic (thick hard insulation) is different. 2010 soaks through the asbestos, softens it and makes it release its grip on the steel. An incision made with a sharp knife will make an opening and the entire coating can be peeled off in large sheets, dramatically reducing the risk of airborne asbestos fibre.
